Introduction

This recruitment will be utilized to fill any Forensic Scientist position that has been designated as a DNA specialty position in the Police Department. Please refer to the Minimum Qualification section of this posting to identify the different requirements for each specific level. Successful candidates will be identified for the specific level of Forensic Scientist based upon the qualifications listed on the application.

About The Position

This position serves as the unit’s DNA Technical Leader as defined by the current version of the FBI Quality Assurance Standards for Testing Laboratories (FBI QAS). Performs method validation and prepare written reports. Coordinates and assists management with the training of Forensic Scientists. Aids in solving technical problems and propose new or modified analytical procedures and implementation into the laboratory. Duties will include analyzing evidence for the presence of biological fluids, and performing subsequent DNA analysis, writing detailed reports, assisting in the development and implementation of forensic methods and programs. Conducts the interpretation, evaluation, and quality review of analytical results and reports.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in an accredited Forensic Laboratory, validating instruments and methods, giving court testimony; will possess knowledge of method development and implementation and have strong writing skills.
